Persebaya is already ramping up preparations for the upcoming Liga 1 2024 season.
Paul Munster, the coach of Persebaya, has highlighted the positive chemistry among the team’s new squad members.
“There have been no communication barriers between the players, both old and new. In fact, the chemistry has been excellent,” Munster remarked.
“So far, the chemistry among all players has been great, creating positive energy within the team. Communication is also strong, with active discussions every day, and new players integrating seamlessly,” stated Paul Munster.
“There are no cliques; everyone gathers together. For me, the most important thing is that everyone is united,” he added.
This situation serves as a crucial asset for a team that will see a significant turnover in its squad for the upcoming season.
Persebaya has undergone a major overhaul this season, retaining only around 40% of its squad from last season.
The club has officially parted ways with 10 players from the previous season, including five foreign players.
The Green Force has announced the addition of three new recruits so far, with ongoing recruitment processes.
Currently, five players are undergoing trials since the team’s first training session on Saturday (June 15, 2024) at Thor Field, Surabaya.
These include Braif Fatari (from Nusantara United), Alan Maulana (from EPA Persebaya U-16), Paulinus (from Persebaya U-15), Rizki Dwi Pangestu (from FC Bekasi City), and Randy Hanson (from Persiba Balikpapan).
“Over 60-65% of the players have left, so it’s fair to say this is a new team. It will take some time to bring everyone together,” Munster explained.
The 42-year-old coach hopes that Bonek-Bonita (Persebaya’s loyal supporters) will continue to show their support both on and off the field.
“As I’ve mentioned, this is a new season for a new team. Everything is fresh. We are all excited for this season,” Munster concluded.
